We were in a conversation about the "Little Rascals/Our Gang" television series (you know the important things in life), when Jonah all of a sudden said, "Jesus is still in control, Adriana."
Just so you know, Jonah will be delivering tomorrow morning's sermon. Bruce can rest a while.

We have a new front door!
After having a good bit of work done on the house last year and vowing not to have anymore work done on it because it is on the market, we finally broke down and called our handy dandy Tim the Tool Man (okay, his name's really Jack) fixer upper guy and had him put up a new front door.
Did I fail to mention that our other front door fell apart as someone was leaving my 31 Gifts party last week? Yep, the plexiglass in the storm door fell right over and broke. The wooden door that was there had been sticking for a while and would not close good. I even found it open one day after we had used it the day before. I know it was not left open and was closed. Scary since we live very close to a main road. Good thing the police are behind us.
So, now we have a new front door. Woohoo! It's the little things in life. Next, one of the bathrooms is going to be fixed and our deck is going to be stained. Talk is going on that the kitchen floor may even get updated. Oh glorious day! No more harvest good flooring to go with my country blue counter tops and blue flowery wall paper. I can't hardly contain myself.

Blowing out the cobwebs
I apologize once again for being gone for so long. The holiday season was a little difficult for me this year. I will share more in another post soon, but I am going to make a valiant effort to start blogging again.
I will give a few highlights of our Thanksgiving and Christmas, though. I casually mentioned to Bruce one day that I wish we could go somewhere over Thanksgiving break. He dangled a carrot in front of me. He said if I would give up Black Friday shopping, then we would go somewhere. (You do know what BF shopping is, don't you?) He figured we would save money that way. (In all honesty, I don't spend that much when I go.)
So, after scheduling our Thanksgiving meal with our extended family for the day before, we left for Pigeon Forge on Thanksgiving Day. Now, those who are familiar with that area are probably thinking, I thought the whole intent was to stay away from shopping. Yes, yes it was. We did make a mistake of trying to hit a couple of the outlet stores on BF. Big mistake. Huge. I didn't think we would be able to get out of there.
We attended a couple of shows, including the Dixie Stampede that has the best soup ever. This was the soup that I craved while I was pregnant with Cara and we had to go a show just to get the soup. They now sell the soup in the gift shop. Heaven! I digress.
The shows were wonderful Christmas shows that included Nativity scenes in each one.
I even convinced the family to have an old-timey picture made instead of our usual Christmas picture. We even had fun with the pictures. I have to say, too, that Bruce missed his time period. He makes a good looking 1800s law man.
We stopped to eat at a restaurant that we had tried out a few years ago. Cara was funny because she acted like she didn't want to eat the beef that she got from the buffet. After she tried it, she ate at least three bowls of it, and wanted more. I have tried to duplicate the recipe, but I have not been too successful. If anyone has a good beef with mushroom sauce recipe, please pass it along.
The only downside was Clemson's loss that weekend. While we were at the restaurant, we talked to a family that had been listening to the game on satellite radio. We had problems keeping a signal on our radio. They gave us the news that Clemson was not doing well. It was a long ride home.
We are thinking about making this a family tradition. Going off on Thanksgiving, that is. Not Clemson losing a game. Just want to make that clear.

Haiti
I had planned to blog today about my absence from the blog, but then Haiti had an earthquake. I want to dedicate my blog page today to the Haitian people and their plight. A friend of mine from youth conference days has a God-given burden and love for the Haitian people. He goes to Haiti several times a year to minister to the children of Haiti.
